Your Beliefs Are Your Life's Thermostat

Are your beliefs helping or hindering you? If you find yourself stuck in a failure-cycle, whether it's in fitness, finances, or business, check out this post to get some practical tips to overcoming it.

When you set the thermostat in your home, what happens to the temperature of your home? It goes to the thermostat. It may vary by a few degrees at a time, but it is always working to get it to that number that you set. Beliefs are the same thing in your life. That's why your mentality and spiritual health matter in your fitness, in your relationships, and in your business.

Are you stuck where you are in your fitness? Are you stuck in finances? In your business? In your goals? Do you feel like you make a little progress but then go right back to where you started?

This happens when our subconscious beliefs don't align with our actions and what we're trying to achieve.

You may be able to squeak out a little success simply because of hustle, but you will always return to your set beliefs.

Think about the last time you set a goal. Were you able to reach it? For most, we set goals that we desire (based on society, comfort, or whatever else) and are not able to reach them. For many, this inability to grow past a certain point is where our actions and ability are being capped by our beliefs.

I've lived through this:

When I was young, I was sexually assaulted. This sparked the lie that I was not worth taking care of, and this belief caused a lot of issues for a long time.

I became desperate for love (even though I didn't really believe I was worth loving), so I started partying for attention, sleeping around, and enduring toxic relationships.

I cycled through every diet and exercise program you can name, constantly failing and never reaching my goals.

I got stuck in a failure-cycle, where I could only succeed for a short time before self-sabotaging and going right back to where I started.

It wasn't until I learned where all this behavior was stemming from, took the time to heal it, and altered my beliefs, that my life began to change.

Once I addressed my limiting beliefs, my entire life changed. I reached my fitness goals, I learned to love myself, and I learned how to demand love and respects from others instead of letting them take advantage of me. I gained freedom from my emotions and took responsibility over my life and how it was turning out.

If any of my story sounds familiar, you've got to do the work like I did. It's time to get uncomfortable and dive in so that you can experience everything you want out of life. Start searching yourself for these limitations, and do the work to overcome them.

Here are some questions to get you thinking:

  • When you look in the mirror, what do you see in yourself?

  • What do you think about daily?

  • What do you believe about your worth in this area of your life that you want to change?

  • What do you believe about your ability in this area of your life?

  • And the most important one you can ask: what do you believe God thinks about you and this area of your life?

Spend some time thinking it through, and really be honest with yourself. You need to address these beliefs (and the lies that started them) in order to see a change in your circumstances. Once you've found a lie you've been believing, you need to inject it with the truth.

The truth is you are loved beyond measure.

The truth is you have infinite worth.

The truth is you have power and authority to create anything you want.

If you aren't using your power to create an amazing life, by default you're using it to create the opposite.

It's a new year, which means it's the perfect time to start speaking the truth over yourself daily, and watch your life change. It's not easy, but it really is that simple.
